LGBTQ+ National Day Of Silence

April 15, 2016

Today is the LGBTQ+ National Day Of Silence. It is a day where we take our main source of communication away by not speaking to recognize the silence imposed on many Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, Queer etc, teens when they are discriminated against for who they are. Today is a day where we put our self in their shoes for one day and try to understand how their way of life is every day with this silence put on them, with this weight dropped on their shoulders put there by the hate of countless people who just do not understand how one can possibly be different than them, or they can not stand the idea that there are strong people who continue to be gay unapologetically and stand for equality and say no to discrimination. Many people are not aware, but the days where people were beaten and murdered for who they are not by choice, but by coincidence is not over. Just like how countless black people were discriminated, beaten, humiliated, and sometimes lynched, many people in the LGBTQ+ community is feeling the same kind of hate, the same hate that starts wars, the same hate that lynched black man and women, the same hate exists today and people need to wake up and look at this ugly trend straight in the eye and take a stand for equality and say no to discrimination for all. We live in a society where we need to learn how to love everybody regardless of religion, race, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, weight, height, and everything in between.

I would like to take a moment to recognize a modern activist against discrimination, and his name is Tyler Oakley. He is a normal man, who happens to be gay and has millions of subscribers on YouTube. Aside from his usual shenanigans he often speaks to the LGBTQ+ community and helps them for LGBTQ+ teens are most likely to commit suicide.
If you would like you can subscribe to his YouTube channel.
